Overview Vedettes de Paris
In the summer of 2006, Socatra achieved another high point by acquiring the Parisian river boat cruise line Vedettes de Paris. Founded in 1976, Vedettes de Paris is one of today’s topmost players in Parisian boating tourism.
With over 400 000 passengers per year, the company Vedettes de Paris is one of the four major players in the cruise business on the River Seine.
There are five promenade boats (two are sparkling new) offering hourly cruises daily along the Seine and two boats dedicated to private and corporate functions. Boarding is ideally situated at the foot of the Eiffel Tower. The boats stand out amongst the competitors due to the charm of the ‘old river boat’ appearance and the intimate personal size.
Vedettes de Paris also includes two electric ferry boats contracted to offer an alternative commuter transportation service.
Expansion plans include the addition of new boats for both type of cruises and the commercial development of the pier area where the boats are moored.
Compagnie Bateaux à Roue
In March 2008 we seized an opportunity to expand our activities in this dynamic business with the acquisition of the Compagnie Bateaux à Roue. Founded in Paris in 1990, the Compagnie Bateaux à Roue sought to fulfill a gap in the river cruise business by offering high-end luxury catered receptions. The four boat fleet has been signed under long-term time charters and the charterer (caterer) will continue to operate the boats under the Bateaux à Roue brand name for both corporate and private receptions.
